Mr. T.K.Hamza, (son of Mrs. Fathma and Mr. Mohammed Kutty) the sitting Member of Parliament from the Manjeri constituency was born on 14th July 1937 at Koorad (Wandoor) in the Malappuram District and is still enjoying his 72nd year (as on 19th Mar 2009) of life as a very active state committee member of CPI-M
in Kerala. After completing his studies in BA LLB, he practiced as a leading lawyer at the Manjeri District Court from 1969 till 1987. His ability to solve issues with his practical wisdom and a keen sense of humour, more over as an uncorrupted politician, has gained him respect and an esteemed place in the society. People of MALAPPURAM admire his speeches which are well-known for their uniquely simple and colloquial style, attracting thousands of people throughout MALABAR.
He has served the people as a MEMBER OF LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY, KERALA from the NILAMBUR constituency as well as from the BEYPORE constituency for more than 19 years and also served as a MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT from the MANJERI constituency. He was the PWD MINISTER in the E.K. NAYANAR Government during the 1987-1991 Ministry. He was also the CHIEF WHIP of the 1996-2001 Ministry.

He presently resides at MANJERI which is in the MALAPPURAM Lokhsabha Constituency. His indepth knowledge of the Human History, especially the Islamic History is remarkable. He is also the Advisory Committee Member of the ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY. His thorough knowledge and passionate interest in MAAPPILA SONGS made him author a book, MAAPPILA PAATTINTE MAADHURYAM which won the S.K. POTTEKKAAD AWARD of the year 2006.
